A. Levasseur | Extrait Gourmand Extra Brut Rose

Enjoying: Light red and orange color with strong little bubbles. A sweet nose that's a little toasty like butter croissants with strawberries and a light citrus finish.

Celebrating: Fourth of July party at the Buscemi's.

Adrien Redon | Le Grand R

Enjoying: Golden effervescent glow with small energetic bubbles. Strawberry, cherry notes on toast with a tart finish that leaves your mouth watery. Not too sweet and not too bitter - just right.

CelebratingClosing on a house to help my parents retire and live close to their grandkids. It's Saturday and I finished chopping a ton of wood (literally).

Alexandre Lenique | Pur Noir

Enjoying: Golden apple color with small bubbles. Fruit nose with some sweet toastiness. The fruit pie finish with a little tartness is nice.

Celebrating: Walked 11 miles from downtown to our house for fun.

Charles de Marques | Brut

Enjoying: Golden color with strong big bubbles, a sweet aroma of green fruit and taste of sweet cream, syrup.  This one is very easy to drink for someone who doesn't drink champagne.

Celebrating: Resolving issues over the golf cart damage with the shop's owner.  It's just a thing, and a first-world problem at that. 

Charles Ellner | Carte Blanche Brut

Enjoying: Light pear color, medium to big bubbles, pear and fresh fruit on the nose.  Toast and fresh fruit nose with a sweet and fresh finish.  Something for everyday celebrations.

Celebrating: Selling the X5 M; it was a trusty companion that kept mine and I safe for the last 6 years.

Didier-Ducos | Absolu Meunier

Enjoying: Little bubbles, fresh fruit nose, lemon and green pear. Sweet taste and candied finish.

Celebrating: Funcle Abe visits and let's me know that I'm finally going to be a funcle.

Elise Dechannes  | Brut Tradition

Enjoying: Light yellow green color with big bubbles. Notes of fresh green apple and toast. a balanced profile of acidity and nuttiness with a tartness like lemon pie.

Celebrating: Job's birthday and life overall is good. 

G.H. Mumm | Cordon Rose 

Enjoying: Grapefruit red with small bubbles, nose of grapefruit and strawberries with some brioche. Minerality and citrus comes through with some chocolate-like finish.

Celebrating: 4th of July party.

Gimonnet-Oger  | Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru

Enjoying: Bright golden color with a citrus honeysuckle nose. Sweet cookies and candy apples and honey to the palate with a clean taste. Maybe it's because I haven't had champagne in a while, but it's really tasty.

Celebrating: Getting headhunted and finishing the final round of interviews at a major tech company.  It was tough.

Hervieux Dumez  | Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru

Enjoying: Light yellow with little crisp bubbles. smells fresh. Toasty notes and a citrus entrance full of bobbles. Refreshing bottle of champagne: not sweet.

Celebrating: Marco's first communion.

Hervieux Dumez  | Rose Brut

Enjoying: Tart, cherry, fruity. Lingering taste of fruit. Enjoying colder than usual.

Celebrating: 4th of July celebration and pool party at Phil and Sandy's.

Hervieux Dumez  | Rose Extra Brut Premier Cru

Enjoying: King salmon red color, strawberry, rhubarb, huge bubbles; scent of fresh strawberries and spring fruit with some minerality.  Acidity is balanced with strawberry lingering notes; not sweet at all.  A smooth fresh strawberry lingering finish.

Celebrating: Grandma's 96th birthday, 90% complete with the airstream renovation making it road-ready.  Our Boys finishing another school year.

Inflorescence | Coquillette Chouilly

Enjoying: Small bubbles, light yellow color, fresh notes.   Some minerality and a small finish.  Easy drinking. 

Celebrating: Meeting with Bill, Peter, and Kevin from Rooted for fun.

Jean Baillette-Prudhomme  | Brut Réserve Premier Cru

Enjoying: Tart, citrus, same lasting taste you get from eating green apples or fruit before it ripens. It looks great and has a clean nose, we accompanied it with buffalo burgers.

Celebrating: I say go big or go home, and with 4 boys we got the biggest SUV they make.   Celebrating our new family car,  Cadillac Escalade ESV Platinum.

Kirkland Signature | Brut

Enjoying: Light pink salmon color, big bubbles, pear and grean apple nose, low minerality and acidity.  Some toastiness and a hint of brioche.  Medium lingering finish; not the smoothest, but great value.

Celebrating: In-Between Birthday Celebration.  Gonzaga playing in the elite 8.  Go-to champagne that can't be beat on price.

Krug | Grande Cuvee

Enjoying: Light apple green color with small bubbles. Tartiness of bright green apple, tart profile that lasts and leaves a watery mouth.

Celebrating: Plaza Hotel Champagne Bar.

Louis Bouillot | Perle d'Aurore Rose

Enjoying: Grapefruit red with medium bubbles, subtle nose of red fruits. Not tart or toasty or creamy. Sort of dull rose that's not too sweet - good for the pool for 20 bucks.

Celebrating: Working with cool engineers that are fun to travel with.

Mailly | Grand Cru

Enjoying: Medium bubbles, pear, mild citrus finish, smooth all-around. Everyone like it. Apricot and cherry tartness.

Celebrating: End of Year celebration with my parents  Celebrating their retirement and move to Mt Pleasant, a new house, a new baby, and Job and Gillian getting married. 

Mathieu-Gandon  | Esprit Brut Nature

Enjoying: Lots of small bubbles. Light green apple juice like. Smells sweet of honeydew, apples, and fresh fruit. Some minerality with toasty notes.

Celebrating: Bringing in the New Year; this one seems to be a go-to for new years.

Mathieu-Gandon  | Esprit Rose

Enjoying: Bright salmon and strawberry red color. Tiny bubbles, notes of strawberry and tart cherry with some nuttiness. Fresh champagne with a subtle lingering finish. Would definitely drink it again.

Celebrating: Enzo's birthday; celebrating having a son with a ton of energy.

Mathieu-Gandon  | Rosé de Saignée

Enjoying: Red-fanta intensity in color, medium bubbles; subtle taste of cherries; tart and citrus with a toasty finish.  Looks cool - would be good for the holidays almost like you're drinking blood for halloween or christmas cheer on Christmas.

Celebrating: Enzo's birthday and finishing performance reviews.

Mathieu-Gandon  | Esprit Saveur

Enjoying: Medium bubbles, nose opens up with some minerality and green apple skins.  Light golden pear color with crisp freshness on the palate as the bubbles just open up inside.  It's mouth-watering goodness and the green apple, honeysuckle, and pear come through. Light minerality and a smooth finish.  

Celebrating: A month owning Airffervescence, crossing over 200 hours and being 90% complete with the entire retrofit with 0 injuries, and being alive in general.

Enjoying: Light almond color with medium bubbles. Brie and toast with honey with fresh flowers and cantaloupe and a soft mineral finish.

Enjoying: Buttery and doughy, like taking a bite of citrus apple and brie cheese. Crisp taste, mellow flavor lasts

Pascal Redon | Diaphane Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru

Enjoying: Light golden color with medium bubbles fills the glass with a nose of apple and fresh dough and taste of fresh strawberries, not sweet and some citrus on the finish.

Celebrating: Getting the golf cart upgrades complete and my first complete week back at Google; back to school for the boys.

Petit Le Brun et Fils | Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru

Enjoying: Nice yellow greenish gold color, small bubbles. Toasted almonds with a fish of sweeter citrus; like grapefruit dipped in sugar and honey.

Celebrating: To survive the Coronavirus Pandemic. Boys last week of school.  

Petit Le Brun et Fils | Millesime 2011 Grand Cru

Enjoying: Light yellow with small bubbles, brioche and toast with minerals; long finish.

Celebrating: 14th wedding anniversary, and going to Langdon's for dinner while my parents watch the boys.

Pierre Paillard | Les Parcelles Bouzy Grand Cru XVIII

Enjoying: Very small bubbles, light color, floral notes with solid minerality and a bit of oakiness.   Long mineral finish with a bit of tartness.

Celebrating: New friends at Rooted.

Piollot Pere et Fils | Brut Réserve

Enjoying: Honeysuckle, nuts, apple and a sweet finish that lasts. Pretty tasty; and not as expensive as some of the other ones that I have had - would buy again.

Celebrating: Opened up to celebrate our new house purchase in Belle Hall for the parents; and to celebrate grandpa's life; he passed away earlier today as well.

Piollot Pere et Fils | Colas Robin 2015

Enjoying: Lots and lots of little bubbles. apple juice color. almond nose with sweet tart strawberry hits the palate with a mineral finish.

Celebrating: Easter, Phil and Cliff become Catholic. I was Phil's proxy for Easter.  Nico and I spent the weekend in Rock Hill and it was a lot of fun. Javier and Ernesto are in town.

Enjoying: Small bubbles and golden color akin to apple cider. Very fresh note of citrus fruit, and a sharp tart (lemon/lime strength note on the palate). Sharp finish.

Celebrating: Approval to work remotely.   12th Wedding Anniversary.  Calls for a Celebration!

Enjoying: Super cool blood red color like strawberry juice with small bubbles, toasty notes and brioche.

Celebrating: Finished trip to Omaha for work, 34 of 50 states and life.

Piper Heidsieck | Cuvee Brut

Enjoying: Light apple juice color with small bubbles. Toasty with some sweetness; fresh pear and apple and maybe even a little honey flavor. Something I would buy again.

Celebrating: Thursday before Christmas chilling at home with the family and about to go into our new hot tub.

Enjoying: Liked it, but not as much as La Grande Dame or Rare.

Vadin Plateau | Symbiose Rosé Premier Cru Extra Brut

Enjoying: Grapefruit color with big bubbles and a nose of stone fruit on toast. Strawberry earthy taste and mineral notes with a lemon finish.

Celebrating: Enzo's birthday and I accepted a remote role at Google.

Vadin-Plateau | Terre de Moines

Enjoying: Rich yellow, small bubbles, great aroma of honeysuckle/melon and bourbon. Something I'd buy again. A medium finish with some toastines.  It does not have a crisp finish, nor is it overpowering - just right.

Celebrating: Celebrating 3 years at Google - I made it!.

Enjoying: Bright grapefruit juice like color, small bubbles, fresh summer fruit, some toastiness and a tart finish.

Enjoying: Light green apple color with small bubbles. Sweet candied apple nose. Linda says grape juice because it is on the sweet side akin to sweet apple skins or apple pie.

Celebrating: Arrived in Washington DC on a family road trip. Eating dinner at Station 4

Vranken | Diamant Brut Blanc de Blancs 

Enjoying: Mild Lemon color with small bubbles. Fresh cut apple hits the nose. Fresh fruits with a hint of honey lead to a sour spike.

Celebrating: First time in Europe, landed in Brussels and headed to Charleroi, then Amsterdam.
